Check out these Insider's Tips:

  • The Sunset Strip is packed most weekend nights! The Sunset Strip is 1.7 square miles long, so take advantage of the privately operated garages ($10-$20/night) and feel free to walk the Strip.
  • If you park on the street pay special attention to the street signs, as the City of West Hollywood does not allow parking on Sunset Boulevard after midnight in order to avoid gridlock.
  • Also make sure to stop at the parking kiosks when parking along the strip – some areas do not have meters but you must still pay at these kiosks. Once again, be sure to read all signs and you won’t have any problems!
  • Parking structures on or nearby Santa Monica Boulevard include Kings Road Drive, the Pacific Design Center, San Vicente Boulevard (at West Hollywood Park) and, more can be found by visiting www.weho.org and clicking on Parking Services.
  • Streets adjacent to the Boulevard are permit-only due to the residential community. Be careful of parking street signs. You can obtain day permit passes from the West Hollywood’s City Hall.
  • Best navigated on foot, the Avenues of Art & Design offer both the professional designer and amateur a wealth of high-design inspiration. Find parking on the street and stroll around! Additional parking is available at the Pacific Design Center at 8687 Melrose Ave and at the parking structure on 8899 Beverly Blvd.
  • If the showrooms on the Avenues aren’t enough, you can easily walk to the Pacific Design Center, which houses over 130 world-class showrooms for you to explore. The PDC is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Parking close to many of the entertainment along Santa Monica Boulevard is available at Pacific Design Center (Melrose and San Vicente) every day for only $8 Monday through Friday after 6PM and all day Saturday & Sunday. The parking structure closes at 3 AM.
  • The Melrose Bar & Grill (8826 Melrose Ave.) sends out weekly “Code Words" to their regulars for Insiders drink and food specials. Be sure to join their list at www.melrosebarandgrill.com.
  • The Melrose Bar and Grill was named in the 2009 Michelin Restaurant & Hotel Guide as a Bib Gourmand rated restaurant, a reviewer’s choice for excellent value and quality.
  • Most fine dining establishments in West Hollywood require dinner reservations, so be sure to call the morning of your planned dinner to secure your table
  • For the complete West Hollywood experience, request outdoor seating while dining al-fresco at many of the Strip’s restaurants. People and car-watching is a favorite pastime in West Hollywood.
  • Many of the businesses on the Avenues are either truly unique to the U.S., or have sister stores only on the East Coast. Amongst those are Stella McCartney, John Varvatos, Balenciaga, Kitson Studio, Armani Casa, Minotti, Snaidero, Phyllis Morris, Fendi Casa and Williams Sonoma Home.
  • The art galleries host a series of Art Walks throughout the year, introducing new artists and exhibits. Also: please be aware that most galleries on the Avenues are closed on Mondays!
  • Looking for a caffeine fix so you don’t end up dropping before you’re done shopping? Try Urth Caffe on Melrose, always seen in gossip rags because of its celebrity clientele base, Urth is also known for being a regular hangout spot on the popular LA-based show Entourage. If you’re looking for less of a scene, try Kaffee Wien also on Melrose, this quaint neighborhood café has great coffee and pastries to keep you moving.
